Athena’s Terpene Tips: Myrcene

The Most Common Terpene

I don’t know if you guys have noticed, but high THC content doesn’t automatically equal silliness.

For many of us, using large amounts of THC will cause a reaction but not put us in that “as seen on TV” state and we’re left wondering why we didn’t reach that level of stonerific when it seems to be standard for everyone else.

Well, let me tell ya something!! While THC has a stimulating-to-dazzling effect on the mind, it isn’t the one to blame for the goofy parts of your cannabis experience.

That credit/blame lands squarely on myrcene.

This lovely terpene is fantastic for so many things but comes with a serious risk of couch lock, munchies, and brain fog.

I love the joy that comes with myrcene but hate that brain fog. So I always try to include some pinene with my high myrcene strains for daytime use.

Some of my favourite high myrcene strains are Pink Kush, Blue Dream, and Mango Haze.

You can tell if a strain is high in myrcene if it smells strongly of mangoes.

You can find myrcene in brightly coloured tropical fruit such as mangoes, papayas, and guava. It’s also found in hops and lemongrass.
